EKU Corbin installs a Rain Garden
More than 35 volunteers helped to install a rain garden at EKU Corbin, which will filter dangerous pollutants like oil and antifreeze that are washed from the campus’ parking lot when it rains.
How Rain Gardens Work
A rain garden receives stormwater runoff from the parking lot. The rain garden holds the water on the landscape so that it can soak into the ground instead of flowing in the near by creek. The native plants, mulch and soil in a rain garden combine natural physical, biological and chemical processes to remove pollutants from runoff.
